Oral Hygiene

How white are your teeth? Do you brush every morning and every night? According to the Center of Disease Control (CDC), Americans are supposed to brush regularly to avoid tartar or calculus, which hardens on the teeth if they are not brushed properly (Gardner, Stewart, 1966). No one wants to have a conversation with someone who has bad breath along with yellow teeth, don't let that be you. Make sure to visit your dentist twice a year. Avoid eating sweets and drinking sweet beverages before bed time. Sugar eats away at your teeth with you knowing, creating cavities that break down your teeth if you don't brush. Don't be that guy/girl who people avoid conversation with you because of bad breath, or yellow teeth.

  1. Hi Allison! I liked how you got straight to the point! You are correct about not wanting to talk to someone who has bad breath. I liked how you mentioned the side effects of eating sugar and not cleaning your teeth. I know people don't always visit their dentist twice a year like they should, but that is something they definitely need to consider. I can't wait to see what your future posts are about!

  2. Oral Hygiene is an excellent topic that everyone should be educated on. I love how you jumped right into your topic without sugar-coating anything. I agree with you that no one wants to talk to anyone with bad breathe. Bad breathe can be very offensive and can upset individuals as well. The tips that you gave on how to avoid bad breathe was great as well. Avoiding eating sweet and drinking sweet beverages is easier said than done, but by reading your blog I am encouraged to avoid those unhealthy habits. Overall, I really enjoyed reading your post and I love your last sentence!

  3. Hey! I enjoyed your blog as well. The yearly visits are put out there so that you know how often you should go to the dentist, however, do we all really go twice a year? I'm going to lean more towards no, but what would be a good thing to look at as well would be how to get that yellow gone that doesn't involve visiting the dentist.

  4. For some people it is hard to remember to brush their teeth twice a day but getting in the habit of it helps a tremendous amount! I know I can't always make it to the dentist twice a year, but I do my absolute best to keep my breath smelling fresh and my teeth clean. great post!

  5. Allison,

You make my blogs look like novels! I like how your blog is short, sweet, and to the point. Something as simple as brushing your teeth is almost foreign to many people (yuck). I never knew the importance of flossing until one day I started doing it this summer and was disgusted with how awful the smell was from the plaque. It literally smells like poo. Also the amount of plaque and crap that gets stuck in your teeth which causes your breath to smell horrendous and I am assuming make your teeth grody too. I brush my teeth three times a day without thinking about it. Thank you for your blog and I look forward to reading the rest of yours. (:

  6. Your blog was very direct and you didn't mess around, good job! You made a very good point about us not wanting to talk to people with bad breath. People don't realize how simple it is to get into a new habit of brushing and flossing. It is something that everyone needs to do.

  7. Straight and to the point! I hate going to the dentist but I use to love it! I was obsessed with my teeth once I got my braces off in high school and would always call my dentist to make appointments to have my teeth cleaned. It was getting out of hand! Then I was obsessed with whitening my teeth. That is an expensive habit.
